Hi! My name is Lucia Krupčiaková and this year I am an
Exchange student in the United States. I will spend my exchange year in Oregon, in a town called Eugene.
Journey to the USA
„Konečne
tu“. Povedala
Vôbec by mi to
neprekážalo, keby to nebol ten istý terminál, z ktorého má o dve hodiny
odlietať moje ďalšie lietadlo. Po „vyhliadkovej “ ceste celým letiskom autobus zastavil pred vedľajším
terminálom. Pešo som sa snažila prejsť k môjmu terminálu. Zrazu som
zbadala veľmi veľa ľudí. Všetci čakali na znovuotvorenie terminálu. Po otvorení
som sa snažila rýchlo nájsť môj Gate. Po chvíli čakania nám oznámili, že náš
let do Denveru je zrušený. Vraj posielajú prázdne lietadlo do Denveru! Na
letisku zavládol chaos. Postavila som sa do rady, aby som získala novú letenku.
Po dvoch hodinách som ešte stále nebola na rade. Našťastie mi zavolala mamina,
že mi vybavila letenku. Utekala som teda rýchlo na check-in. Namiesto do
Denveru som mala prestupovať v Chicagu a San Franciscu. Na cestu do
Chicaga som dostala letenku v prvej triede. Bolo to naozaj super: veľa
miesta, polohovateľné sedadlá, televízor s množstvom filmov, deka, vankúš
a samozrejme veľmi starostlivý personál.
nebola v prvej triede... V San Franciscu som čakala skoro 5 hodín na
let do Eugene. Bola noc, takže na letisku bolo iba zopár ľudí. Prišlo ráno
a ja som nasadla do môjho posledného lietadla. Na letisku ma už čakala
moja prvá host-rodina. Cestou z letiska sme sa zastavili v škole
vyplniť prihlášku. Zvyšok dňa som už len spala.
“Finally
here,“ I said to
myself when I landed in Eugene. The journey was very long. The first
flight was fine. When the plane landed in Frankfurt and parked on the
other side of the airport I started to feel concerned. The pilot told us that our terminal was closed. I wouldn’t
mind that the terminal was closed if it
wasn’t the same terminal where my next
plane was leaving from. After a long bus-ride we stopped in front of the
neighbour terminal. I was frantically searching for the right terminal. Suddenly I saw
a lot of people who were all
waiting for the reopening of the terminal. After we could enter the terminal
I found my gate. However, my flight to Denver had been cancelled.
I was waiting in a lane for 2 hours to get a new ticket, but
still it wasn’t my turn. Luckily my mom was able to get me a new ticket so that
i didnt have to stand in line for another two hours. I ran to the check-in.
Instead of to Denver, my new ticket had me going to Chicago and then San
Francisco. I got a ticket in business class for Chicago. It was
great: lots of space, a reclining seat, t.v. with lots of films, pillows,
blankets, and of course a very nice
steward. Despite these great things, I wasn’t
able to sleep.
The customs in Chicago were very fast. I was suppposed to pick up my bag
from the Chicago airport, as it was the first stop in the USA. However my
suitcase hadn‘t arrived. The flight to San Francisco was less comfortable...I
wasn’t in business class anymore. I waited 5 hours in San Francisco for my
flight to Eugene. It was night so there weren’t very many people at the airport.
In the morning I got on my last flight.
My first host-family was waiting for me at the airport when I arrived. On the
way home we stopped at school to enroll me. I slept the rest of the day.
Friday
Doobeda som išla nakupovať s mojou host-mamou
do (veľkých) potravín. Každý robil obrovský nákup. Poobede mi Carmen(kamarátka
mojej host-rodiny) ukázala centrum mesta. Odtiaľ sme išli na futbalový zápas
v našej škole. Dostali sme tričká s logom našej školy, aby sme mohli
povzbudzovať. Atmosféra bola skvelá, všetci fandili nášmu tímu.
On Friday I went to the grocery store with my
host-mom. Everyone made a big shopping. In the afternoon Carmen showed me
the city centre. In the evening we went to a football match of our school
team. We also got t-shirts with the school logo to support our school. The atmosphere
was great, everybody was cheering.
Saturday
V sobotu sme mali s host-rodinou brunch
v pancake-house. Oslavovali sme narodeniny mojej host-mamy. Večer mi
konečne prišiel môj stratený kufor. Hurááá!
On
Saturday we had brunch with my host-family at pancake house. My first brunch
ever! We celebrated birthday of my host-mom. My lost suitcase came finally in
the evening.
Sunday
V nedeľu som sa konečne stretla s ostatnými
výmennými študentami z môjho mesta. Holly nás vzala k vodopádom- Salt
creek falls. Cestou späť sme sa zastavili na zmrzline. Objednala som si malú
brownie-zmrzlinu, no aj tak som ju nevládala zjesť. Večer sme sa kúpali
u Holly vo vírivke a objednali si pizzu.
On Sunday I finally met
other exchange students from my town. Holly took us to the Salt creek falls.
The falls looked amazing. On the way back we stopped to have an ice-cream.
I had small brownie ice-cream, despite that I wasn’t able to eat it all.
In the evening we bathed in Holly’s jacuzzi and ordered pizza for dinner.
